Alpaca Wool - Properties

Alpaca wool has its price. A look at the fiber structure makes it clear why alpaca wool is one of the most expensive types of wool in the world. The fibers are hollow on the inside, giving them unique thermal properties. For this reason, clothes made of alpaca wool can be worn both in summer and in winter.

It's worth buying alpaca wool! The wool of alpacas stores body heat, while the fibers also insulate against the cold. In summer, on the other hand, the fiber ensures heat balance. Sweat is absorbed and wicked away by the hollow fibers. At the same time, the clothing is spared unpleasant odors, since the protein molecules it contains neutralize perspiration.

But these are not the only reasons for the high demand for alpaca wool. Alpaca fibers are very resilient. Not only are they particularly durable and dirt-repellent, they are also three times more tear-resistant than sheep's wool. The particularly fine fibers have an unusual scale structure, which creates a pleasant feeling on the skin.

Charges and standing hair are just as impossible thanks to the antistatic properties of alpaca wool as ignitions over a normal flame.

The natural variety of colors does not require additional dyeing of the wool. White, beige, brown or gray and black - no other animal is as colorful as the alpaca.

Alpaca wool - usage

The wool is mainly used for clothing to feel the high wearing comfort on the skin. Sweaters, scarves or ponchos and socks are preferably made from alpaca wool. Thanks to its antibacterial properties, the product is even used to make duvets and pillows.
